Tai Chi: The Original “Mobile App”

As I started my tai chi practice in my local park recently it occurred to me that tai chi IS the “original mobile app.” Here I was, facing the exquisite waters of Sarasota Bay, cool morning breezes blowing across the waters, and I could “pull” out my “mobile device” (in this case my tai chi) and simply enjoy it. It didn’t require any fancy hardware, expensive equipment, or internet connection and I can take it with me at all times and in all places. I have done tai chi at local bus stops while waiting for our trolley, in line at the grocery store, on the beaches of California, and on and on. I believe Chef Alton Brown would call this the “original multi-tool.” And it comes with a lifetime guarantee: better health, breathing, blood pressure, coordination and a constant chance to meet others who share the passion (or the “app”) or who simply are curious about what you are doing. I think I’ll take my “mobile app” out on my porch right now and enjoy this beautiful morning!
