THOUGH THE STYLES MAY DIFFER, THE PRINCIPLES ARE THE SAME

Many people who begin tai chi classes are unaware that there are different styles of tai chi, three of which I teach: Sun the youngest style; Yang the most popular; Chen the most martial. Each of these styles has a different way of working with hands, feet, and overall body movement. This is confusing for the new student when they find movements which bear the same name in theseSpiral energy in nature single blog 566 x 566 styles but which are performed differently.  I tell my students to remember that though the styles may differ, the principles of Tai Chi are always the same.  Learning the principles is like understanding the rules of the road.  They are a springboard to going  deeper into what you know.   In my upcoming series of blogs I will be exploring many of these principles, their application in the practice of tai chi as well as their larger implications for inner and outer balance in our lives.
